August-September   Our first Open Court theme is Let’s Read.   Below is a list of recommended trade books to read that go along with this unit.  Please read as many of these as you can.  After reading one of these books, blog me to let me know what you like about each book.  Those students who blog with a comment about each book in the unit will receive a special prize.  Happy Reading!

Welcome to first grade.  This year our main focus will be learning how to read.  Reading not only involves recognizing words, but also comprehending what is read, and reading fluency with expression.  We will also be using the computer to write and read stories as  well as communicate with others.
